Countdown till the season begins

parawaiting

With the strange overcast weather continuing over the next few days it is becoming rather difficult to fix on a date to open the season and get courses going. Simply don’t know what to tell new students who have been waiting patiently during the monsoon and are now calling in to fix their dates. It’s the same story with pilots. Sandeep, Shekhar, Hina, Kaustubh, Dwane, Manoj, Pendu, Sanjay and me all met up at Sunil’s ‘International Watch Exhibition’ where Sanjay indulged in a T Touch. Every one is getting itchy wings.

We are tired of seeing each other’s faces for short spans of time in the city. Somehow meeting pilot friends on the hill with the entire weekend and the fact of getting airborne right there in front of you is so much nicer. Pendu will soon be off to Billing, enjoying rare air and immense height and distance possibilities for the next 3 weeks. Some of the Nirvana Pilots will join him there for a while.

The rest of us will have to hold the fort right? We will wait it out until we can air our wings and step into the skies at good old Kamshet.

Ganapati 1

We (Sanjay and Astrid) spent 4 days in Kamshet visiting the nearby villages of Govitri, Karanjgaon, Uksaan, and Pale. We visited the homes of all our staff, said ‘namaste’ to the Ganapatis at their homes, ate wonderful prasad and did a Satyanarayan puja at Balu’s ( fondly known as appa)  in Govitri Village.

Ganapati 2Spending time in the homes of our staff, meeting their families, bulls, cows, cats and dogs etc. was a wonderful experience that words cannot express.

As always when we visit the villages we came away touched by their warmth, happiness and pride. It was a coming down to earth experience and a glow that we carried back home to Mumbai with us.

This weekend we also met Philipp Koeke a pilot from Germany who has been living in Mumbai for the past few (monsoon) months and is eager to get airborne. Philipp came up to Native Place for the weekend and Sanjay showed him the sites on the way We expect to see him at Kamshet often on the weekends once the season begins.. Welcome Philipp! The nirvana pilots will be pleased to have you join the fold.
